Jumbo sold the most again
Jumbo shopping center maintained its position as the largest in Finland, although sales decreased slightly.
According to the Finnish Shopping Centre Association, Vantaa Jumbo was still the largest shopping centre in the Helsinki metropolitan area and Finland in terms of sales in 2024.
Jumbo’s sales decreased slightly to 496 million euros from 509 million euros the previous year.
Shopping center director Olli Lehtoaro says the decline in sales is due to renovations and the weak economic situation.
The largest shopping center in the Helsinki metropolitan area in terms of visitor numbers was Kamppi Helsinki with 30 million visitors.
Vantaa Jumbo maintained its position as the largest shopping center in the Helsinki metropolitan area and all of Finland, measured by sales last year.
The information is available from a recent publication by the Finnish Shopping Centre Association.
Jumbo’s sales were 496 million euros in 2024. Sales decreased slightly from the previous year, when they were 509 million euros.
Sales were the highest of all shopping centers in Finland in both 2023 and 2024. As late as 2023, Jumbo was still called Jumbo-Flamingo.
The ranking of the five largest shopping centers in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, when comparing sales, remained the same in 2024 compared to the previous year.
Espoon Shopping Centre Sello had the second highest sales, 418 million euros. Espoo Shopping Centre Iso Omena had the third highest sales, 408 million euros.
Helsinki’s Tripla had the fourth highest sales among shopping centers in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Its sales amounted to 355 million euros.
The fifth-largest shopping center in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area was Kaari Shopping Center, with sales of 295 million euros.
Sales at the five largest shopping centers in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area increased in 2024 compared to the previous year, with the exception of Jumbo.
The decline in sales at Jumbo was due to the renovations carried out last year and the general economic situation, says shopping center director Olli Lehtoaro.
“Some customers were able to shop elsewhere due to the renovation work at Jumbo. After the renovation work was completed, the customers have returned.”
According to Lehtoaro, consumers’ weak confidence in the economy was also reflected in them spending less money on their purchases.
“The number of empty retail spaces did not increase last year. There has been no vacancy.”
The largest shopping center in the Helsinki metropolitan area in terms of visitor numbers in 2024 was Kamppi Helsinki with 30 million visitors.
The second most visitors were in Tripla, Sello, Iso Omena and Itis.
The large number of visitors to the five largest shopping centers is influenced by the fact that they are connected to a metro or train station.
Jumbo, on the other hand, is located along the ring road. Jumbo’s number of visitors in 2024 was 12 million, which was the seventh most among shopping centers in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
