1. Brutal-Olkky

Julma-Ölkky is the largest of three canyon lakes in Finland. It is located in Kuusamo, near the Suomussalmi municipal border, in Northern Ostrobothnia.

You can explore the approximately three-kilometer-long canyon lake, for example, on a guided boat trip or by touring the hiking trails surrounding the lake.

2. Iso-Melkutin

Just about an hour and a half drive from Helsinki is a great excursion destination.

Located in Loppe, Kanta-Häme, Iso-Melkutin is known for its crystal-clear water. The lake is especially popular among divers.

There is a circular route around the lake in the Melkuttimen area, approximately five kilometers long.

The route is suitable for beginner hikers and families with children, as the terrain in the area is mainly easy to walk and wide. The route includes a few steeper climbs and descents.

3. Hekopöngäs

One of the highest waterfalls in Finland is a breathtakingly beautiful place to visit. The Hepoköngaas waterfall is located in Kainuu, in Puolanka. The height of the Hepoköngaas waterfall is recorded at 24 meters.

In addition to its spectacular appearance, the Hepoköngaas waterfall is a particularly popular excursion destination because it is easily accessible. A 600-meter-long sand path leads to the waterfall.

4. Kuhakoski Waterfall

Kuhakoski, located in Perttula, Nurmijärvi, is the largest waterfall in Uusimaa. It is fenced with sturdy railings, so you can enjoy the view safely. The water falls in steps of 16 meters over a distance of 150 meters.

5. Orinoro gorge

Orinoro is a gorge formed during the Ice Age, shaped by the flow of meltwater. Orinoro can be reached via a marked nature trail.
