Now it’s booming: a tough move from the Dallas Stars
Peter DeBoer will not continue as head coach of the Dallas Stars.
The Dallas Stars announce that they have fired head coach Peter DeBoer.
Club CEO Jim Nill announced the news on Friday.
“After careful consideration, we came to the conclusion that we now need a new voice in our locker room to get us closer to winning the Stanley Cup,” Nill commented.
Canadian DeBoer, 56, coached the Texan club for the last three seasons.
The Stars advanced to the top four in each of DeBoer’s NHL seasons, the Western Conference Finals. In the first season, the Vegas Golden Knights were stronger, and in the following two seasons, the Edmonton Oilers proved to be better.
Dissatisfaction
The team was in a state of uproar after their latest playoff disappointment, with DeBoer publicly criticizing goalie Jake Oettinger after the team’s playoff run ended.
The Stars, who were aiming for the Stanley Cup, fell short of their goal when the Edmonton Oilers knocked off the All-Stars in the Western Conference Finals with a 4–1 victory.
Editor David Pagnotta said after the conference finals that the Stars, which are heavily represented by Finns, were dissatisfied with the coaching and DeBoer’s statements to the media.
