It’s cheap now – Vili, Toni and Niko, who have been traveling for a week, hit the beer vein
Almost 2,000 Finns traveled to Slovakia on Thursday.
Vili, Toni and Niko made the most of the summer football party. The trio packed up their camper van and left Finland for Central Europe a week ago.
The final stop was Košice, Slovakia, where the Little Owls will play all three of their European Championship preliminary group matches.
– In Krakow we rested a little longer, three nights. There was a cool atmosphere in Poland when we wanted to see the Finland-Poland match. We went into a sports bar, and the downstairs was full of Finns. There were no Poles there. It was a great atmosphere, Vili and Niko were reviewing the Huuhkajiet’s World Cup qualifying evening.
– Everything went smoothly, not once during the drive were passports asked, Toni continued.
Five euros per liter
Right on the corner of KoÅ¡ice’s old town is a pub called Dobré ÄŒasy. It is a base for Finnish fans during the European Championship.
The trio had already found an option on the drinks menu to avoid constantly having to trudge around the bar. A five-liter beer tower stood proudly in the middle of the Finns’ table.
– This cost about 25 euros. You can choose a beer from the list, and the tower will be filled according to the price per pint, Niko explained.
So about five euros per liter. The friends ended up with a slightly darker lager.
Multiple routes
Slovakia’s price level pleases Finns.
– Very good! said Albert and Morris along the main street of Košice.
– I would say that tourism and locality combine quite nicely here. I have a really good impression of Slovakia, Albert continued.
They also noticed that traveling to Slovakia’s second largest city requires a bit of a detour.
– I flew to Vienna, then spent three days in Bratislava and traveled here by bus. The six-hour journey through the Slovak countryside was a long one, but now I can say that I have seen almost the entire country, he laughed.
Finland’s competition begins on Thursday evening against the Netherlands. Then they will face Ukraine and Denmark.
Almost 2,000 Pikkuhuuhkajiet supporters will be present for the opening match.
– The feeling is positive, as the Little Owls also defeated Germany in a practice match before the games. There is definitely a chance to advance from the group, Morris said and got his friend to join him.
Will you come back to Slovakia if Finland advances?
– You’ll have to discuss that with your boss, Morris laughed.
