For night buses, only from the front doors

The summer timetables will bring significant changes to night buses in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. After 11pm, entry will no longer be possible through all doors, as is the case with main line buses.

On Monday, new summer timetables came into effect on many public transport routes in the Helsinki region.

There are significant changes, especially in bus traffic, but train passengers should also check the schedules.

On the night services of the Orange bus lines, the door policy will change so that passengers can only enter the bus through the front doors. After 11pm, entry will no longer be possible through all doors, as is the case on main lines.

Helsinki Regional Transport (HSL) justifies the change with improved safety. The ticket must be shown to the driver or purchased from a reader device inside the bus.

Many bus lines will have fewer services starting from Midsummer week, but bus 24 has already added services to Hietaniemi and Seurasaari.

Line 1 is on break during the summer season until August 10th. Instead, tram line 1T runs from Käpylä to the West Terminal in Jätkäsaari.

In practice, the stops at Eira Hospital, Perämiehenkatu and Telakkakatu will not be served by line 1.

The situation in train traffic will change after Midsummer.

There is a traffic disruption on the coastal railway, meaning that commuter trains will not run west of Leppävaara. The traffic disruption will last for five weeks from June 23rd until the end of July.

During the traffic disruption, the Espoo city line, i.e. additional tracks from Leppävaara to Kauklahti, will be built.

During the disruption, commuter train services will be replaced by buses 211E, 211U, 213X and 249Y.

Track work is also being carried out at Tikkurila station, and there will be changes to the service of K, I and P trains starting on June 23. Train intervals will be extended from the usual 20 minutes.

During the five-week track work, the Vantaa tram tunnel will be prepared under the main track. Due to the track work, trains will have platform changes at Tikkurila station.

On the western section of the Ring Railway, every other train runs the shorter route Helsinki–Myyrmäki–Airport. Every other train runs the entire circuit from the airport via Tikkurila to Helsinki.
