Aleksander Barkov’s boss reveals: “I heard a great story”

The Finnish captain of the Florida Panthers celebrated in a long way and shared his joy with others.

The Florida Panthers celebrated their second consecutive NHL championship with such devotion that the Stanley Cup trophy was booed.

Aleksander Barkov had the honor of receiving the trophy from Commissioner Gary Bettman as captain. The Finnish center was the first to hand the trophy over to Nate Schmidt.

Barkov’s boss, Panthers GM Bill Zito, revealed on the popular Pat McAfee Show that the star player was having fun with the pitcher until quite late after regaining possession of the trophy.

– I heard a great story about Barkov last night, Zito chuckled in the interview.

Home at a fast pace

Zito explained that Barkov first went to change his clothes. Morning was already dawning.

– He reportedly came home at five in the morning to clean up.

– Then he continued celebrating, and went knocking on doors in the neighborhood with the Stanley Cup, Zito revealed.

Seeing the center forward celebrating the championship at the door at five in the morning was certainly a sight that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

Panthers beat Edmonton Oilers 4–2.
