The Finnish star took off his shirt – Even his teammate was amazed by the sight
Topi Keskinen remembered the Mikkeli Ball Players.
Topi Keskinen stood up to support the Little Owls in a dazzling manner. The Mikkeli native, who fought for every possible ball throughout the 90 minutes, was first in the process of organizing a 1–2 draw.
Finland needed to beat Denmark to keep its dream of reaching the quarter-finals of the European Championship alive.
The game clock ran out in the 82nd minute when Finland was awarded a free kick. Niklas Pyyhtiä passed a small pass wide, and Keskinen fired a magnificent shot into the top corner.
That wasn’t enough to continue, but the rise reflected above all Keskinen’s performance and at the same time the tenacity of the Little Owls.
– We can be satisfied overall with what we achieved. It was a small matter that we would have defeated Holland.
– Finland is not necessarily considered a top country in football, but we have already shown with this slightly different style of play that we can cope and challenge, Keskinen summed up.
After the match, a surprise was revealed when Keskinen took off his shirt. He was wearing the blue shirt of his childhood club Mikkelin Palloilijioden under his Finnish national team shirt. In an interview with Ruudu, he said that he was prepared to show the MP logo if he scored.
The other teammates laughed at the stunt.
– Not surprising at all, just a top-notch job. It’s a wonder he’s not wearing Crocs yet, Adam Marhiev grinned.
Juho Talvitie, on the other hand, was surprised that Keskinen had worn an MP shirt under his game jersey.
– Oh, you already pulled it on before the match? I didn’t see it. Quite a gem, a cool thing if you did that. Hats off to you for wanting to remember your old club. But Marhievi described it pretty well, Talvitie said.
A group photo was taken of the players at the games, in which they all wore the shirts of their parent club.
