Man flees police in stolen Porsche
The Porsche and police cars were dented during the half-hour chase.
A drunk car thief fled from police in a Porsche in Helsinki and Vantaa on Friday, according to the Eastern Uusimaa Police.
Police suspect a man of stealing a Porsche 911 Carrera from a car dealership in Vantaa early Friday morning. Another car was also stolen from the dealership.
A police patrol spotted a stolen Porsche driving in Vantaa. The police patrol tried to stop the car, but the driver sped away, according to the police, dangerously.
The driver continued to drive dangerously in the South Vantaa and North Helsinki areas for about half an hour.
Eventually the Porsche drove into a dead end and the police caught the man.
Several police patrols participated in the chase. Some of the police cars were dented. The Porsche also suffered body damage. According to the police’s current understanding, no bystanders were injured.
In addition to speeding, the Porsche driver also violated other traffic rules and caused dangerous situations.
The police suspect the driver of aggravated theft, aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, driving a vehicle without a license, drunk driving, drug use offenses, and disobedience to the police. The criminal charges may be further specified as the preliminary investigation progresses.
The police say they have already recovered a car stolen from another dealership.
