Seagulls: New owners
The Helsinki Society announced the happy news.
The reigning champion of the Finnish Basketball League, the Helsinki Seagulls, has found owners.
The club announced the matter on Monday evening.
– The new backing company is backed by experienced domestic business influencers from several industries, and the future goal is to strongly develop B2B partner activities and recruit companies to the Seagulls network, the press release states.
Turns
Janne and Sinikka Kulvik, who have been running the Seagulls for a long time, announced in early June that they would be leaving the club. At the same time, it was announced that the deal with the Lithuanian Basketball Holding Company had fallen through.
MTV Sports had previously reported that the Helsinki club would be relinquishing its league position, but the Seagulls were nevertheless granted a league license for the 2025–26 season.
– We are happy and fortunate that the Seagulls have finally secured a large group of great people who have distinguished themselves in the business world. They will be able to utilize their expertise, networks and contacts for the benefit of the club in the future. We will be following the games with great interest – and the growth story of the entire club, says Sinikka Kulvik, according to the press release.
The Seagulls promise to announce the new ownership and the team’s plans during July.
