Teemu Selänne was in foreclosure

The hockey legend had unpaid property taxes.

Teemu Selänte had three property tax bills that went to foreclosure, but now the man has already paid them all. This is clear from the foreclosure register of the Enforcement Service dated Tuesday.

According to the enforcement certificate, Selänne has first paid the Tax Administration 36.52 euros for the property tax invoice, which was pending from December 1, 2023 to February 6, 2024.

After this, Selänne has paid the Tax Administration EUR 3,016 and EUR 2,964.28 for the enforcement invoices that were pending from December 3, 2024 to January 30, 2025.

Although Selänne lives mainly in California, he also has properties in Finland.

For example, the man has a handsome 600 square meter villa in Kirkkonummi, which was in the headlines during the energy crisis due to its outrageous electricity bills. Selänne said in January 2023 on the messaging service X that the electricity bill for the Kirkkonummi local was as much as 4,412 euros. In addition, there was an 814 euro transfer fee.

In the midst of turmoil

Selänne, who actively participates in social media discussions, has been in the headlines in recent days due to the Pride commotion. A comment was liked on the hockey hero’s Instagram account stating that “Gay is a disease, and the white race is superior.”

When Selänte’s like was widely reported, the man commented on what happened in X.

– I want to disavow all comments that are racist or offensive to homosexuals. I do not accept discrimination in any form. If inappropriate comments have been liked on my account, it has not been a conscious act and does not reflect my values, Selänne wrote.

The former goaltender’s stellar NHL career ended in 2014. Selänne played 1,451 games in the NHL regular season and scored 1,457 (684+773) points. He won the Stanley Cup in 2007.
