Aleksander Barkov defeats Edmonton!
The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers will meet in the Stanley Cup Final 4.
The 4th Stanley Cup Final got off to an explosive start, as both the Oilers and Panthers managed to build a top scoring position in the first couple of minutes.
The first ten minutes of the opening period were dominated by the home team, and after seven minutes of play the shots were 8–1 to the hosts.
Oilers’ much-maligned goalie Stuart Skinner started the game really strong and kept the game tied at 0–0.
The Canadian has been particularly strong in the series’ four-game series. He has won all five of his career’s four-game series. He has kept a clean sheet twice.
The Panthers got their timeout at 11:36 when Darnell Nurse tackled Aleksander Barkov while the Panthers were playing power play.
A while earlier, Evander Kane had been forced to sit out of the game.
The Panthers only had four seconds to play a two-man advantage when Matthew Tkachuk shot the puck accurately into the front corner after Barkov’s opening win.
The serve point was Barkov’s first point of the final series.
The point wasn’t Barkov’s only one in the opening set. Barkov was involved in building Florida’s 2–0 lead, which was finished by the same man: Tkachuk.
Barkov passed the puck to Tkachuk, who quickly passed it to Sam Reinhart in the middle. Tkachuk shoveled Reinhart’s loose puck shot past Skinner from the corner of the goal.
