Finnair cancels 143 flights from Tuesday due to labor dispute

Flight cancellations affect the travel plans of 6,500 customers.

Finnair cancels 143 flights on Tuesday, June 17 due to industrial action by the Finnish Airline Union IAU.

Cancellations affect the plans of 6,500 passengers at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

Finnair offers customers an alternative flight or the opportunity to cancel the trip and get a refund.

Finnair will cancel 143 flights from Tuesday, June 17, affecting the travel plans of 6,500 customers, the company announced.

The cancellations are due to industrial action by the Finnish Aviation Union IAU, which is causing widespread disruption to critical operations at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport on Tuesday.

The labor disputes will affect at least ground handling operations and catering services during the day, which are essential for Finnair flights.

Finnair offers customers with cancelled flights an alternative flight. Customers with cancelled flights can also cancel their trip and request a refund of the ticket price.

Due to the cancellations, Finnair’s customer service is also congested, and waiting times are longer than usual.

There may also be delays in baggage handling at the airport on Tuesday. Therefore, Finnair advises its customers traveling on Tuesday to check in in advance, arrive at the airport on time, and pack essential items in hand luggage.

The IAU has also announced similar industrial action on Thursday, June 19.

According to Finnair, the exact impact of the labor disputes on that day’s traffic is still difficult to assess, but it is likely that if they materialize, the labor disputes would also have significant impacts on Thursday.

Finnair will inform about possible cancellations of Thursday flights on Tuesday.
