Finnair warns that two industrial action strikes during Midsummer week will cause significant disruptions

The airline estimates that it will have to cancel the majority of its more than 600 flights on those days.

Finnair warns that the IAU’s industrial action will cause significant disruption to air traffic on Tuesday and Thursday of Midsummer week.

The airline estimates that it will have to cancel the majority of its more than 600 flights on those days and recommends customers change their flight dates.

Finnair offers customers the opportunity to change their flight reservations for free to other dates until the end of August.

The Aviation Industry Union IAU has announced industrial action that will cause widespread disruption to critical operations at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport on Tuesday 17 and Thursday 19 June.

The four-hour labor strikes are targeting different shifts.

“As Finnair is the largest airline at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, the industrial action will affect all ground handling operations essential to Finnair’s flights during the day,” Finnair says in a statement.

Finnair estimates that the effects of the industrial action will be more significant than previous strikes.

“Finnair will fly a total of over 600 flights on June 17th and 19th, and if the industrial action takes place, the majority of flights will likely have to be canceled. There may also be impacts on flights on the days surrounding the strike,” the airline says.

Finnair customers can change their flight reservations from the strike days to other days for free until the end of August if they wish.

Finnair says it will start canceling flights on strike days two days before the flight’s departure date.

Customers will be offered a new routing as soon as possible, and the customer will receive a message about it according to the contact information provided in the booking, Finnair announced.

Alternatively, the customer can cancel the trip and request a refund of the ticket price.

The IAU has also announced industrial action on Wednesday, June 11.

Finnair says it will aim to operate flights that day as normal.
