Mika Lehkosuo dropped a surprise: “A few changes”

There may be “a few changes” to the starting lineup of the Little Owls.

The starting lineup of the Little Owls may change in many respects for the second group match of the European Championship.

After a very successful opening of the European Championship, this can be considered a bit surprising. Below is a 2–2 draw with the Netherlands. On Sunday, they will face Ukraine, who started with a loss.

– It is certainly one of the important things that we find the best lineup for the Ukraine game. We will make a few changes to the starting lineup, head coach Mika Lehkosuo predicted at a press conference on Saturday.

Immediately afterwards, he reminded us of the tight pace of the tournament.

– You have to think about this in a bit of a bigger picture. We’ll play tomorrow, we’ll play in a few days, and possibly again a couple of days after that. You have to think about the strain, because the pace is very intense.

According to Lehkosuo, all players are available. Friday was a recovery day, but on Saturday the entire team returned to the Košice training pitch.

Against Ukraine, Finland will have Matti Peltola at their disposal, who was already part of the A national team in the World Cup qualifiers and arrived directly from Helsinki to help the Little Owls.

Peltola was named to the team as a replacement for injured top scorer Tony Miettinen.

Against the Netherlands, Ville Koski’s backup partner was Rony Jansson, who performed well in the tough test.

– And there are options not only in the stopper department, but in many playing positions.

Lehkosuo also thought that Ukraine would make changes to its opening.

– It’s not easy to predict what kind of lineup they’ll put on the field.
