In addition to the ex-driver, his wife Annica and children Max, 23, and Mai, 21, and their partners arrived at the premiere.
Max is pursuing a career in motor racing, like his father. He competes in the Japanese Super Taikyu series, which is a long-distance endurance race.
– There is a small break after the last race. The next two races will now be cancelled. Then we will have the last race at the end of the year, says Max Salo.
Caring dear
A young man living in Helsinki praises that he has received a lot of mental help from his father for his driving career. He aims to become a professional in the sport.
– If he could drive in the 24-hour race at Le Mans or the Nürburgring, Max would dream.
– There is a lot of demand for a professional position. It has not yet been filled.
Younger Salo is also supported on the track by his girlfriend Krista Viinanen. She is also crazy about cars.
– We met at a car event – surprise, surprise. In a hobby, Max Salo smiles.
Even the couple’s taste in cars is exactly the same. They both own a Mazda MX-5 and a Nissan. Krista has a Nissan 180SX, Max has a Nissan Silvia.
World Championship gold
Mika Salo’s daughter Mai competes in cheerleading. She is a world champion in her sport.
The World Championships gold came in a special way in 2021. At that time, the competitions were held remotely due to the corona pandemic.
– We filmed a video of our performance. We had three attempts, and the best one was sent to the United States. All countries did the same thing, Mai Salo explains.
The young athlete lives in Helsinki and worked as a school counselor for a long time.
Mai and Max’s mother is Japanese Noriko Salo. Mai says she visits Japan about once a year, but would like to visit the Land of the Rising Sun more often.
– Cheerleading is really binding, he laments.
