Montreal concrete claims another victim
The second practice session for the Canadian GP was held in Montreal.
Charles Leclerc had a miserable start to his Canadian GP weekend.
He destroyed his Ferrari so completely at the start of the first practice session that the mechanics had no chance of repairing it before the second practice session.
Leclerc watched the second hour from the pit lane.
He quickly caught up with Lance Stroll, whose touch on the concrete fence of his home track was of course much gentler than the Monegasque.
Stroll underwent minor wrist surgery just before the Canadian GP. However, he recovered in time for the weekend’s track activities.
However, on Friday they were left half way because the team wouldn’t let the Canadian limp to the pits on three wheels. The concrete in Montreal claims another victim because the Aston Martin’s left front wheel was stuck in the completely wrong direction.
– You can’t drive with the car in that condition. It’s not allowed anymore, the race engineer instructed Stroll.
The fastest in the second practice session was Mercedes’ George Russell. It was notable that the Briton set his best lap on medium tyres, while second-placed Lando Norris used soft tyres.
The gap between the English duo was only 0.028 seconds.
