Now it’s booming: Toto Wolff makes a significant revelation about Valtteri Bottas on Viaplay

Mercedes’ team principal confirmed on Viaplay that other teams are pursuing Valtteri Bottas.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was interviewed by Viaplay after Saturday’s qualifying sessions.

Mervi Kallio asked Wolff directly if Alpine team principal Flavio Briatore had called him about Valtteri Bottas.

– A few times actually, Wolff revealed.

There have even been rumors surrounding Bottas that he could replace Franco Colapinto as Alpine’s race driver mid-season.

In addition, Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss admitted to Talksport at Silverstone that he had held behind-the-scenes discussions with driver candidates for next season.

– It seems that interest in Valtteri has accelerated at a rapid pace, Mercedes boss Wolff said on Viaplay.

“We are not going to prevent”

It now looks like Bottas could be on the verge of getting a driver’s seat in Formula 1 either this season or next season at the latest.

Bottas has a reserve driver contract with Mercedes for this season, but according to Wolff, that will not be a problem if the situation changes.

– We are not going to stop him if he wants to leave. We will let him go, but with tears in our eyes, Wolff commented.

The Mercedes boss assured that he would not intervene in the matter.

– He can make his own decision.
