Pension reform prompted rally legend Simo Lampinen to return from Hamburg to Vantaa

Simo Lampinen is the youngest winner of the Jyväskylä Grand Prix. The 81-year-old steelman sends messages from his home in Vantaa to rally fans around the world.

Simo Lampinen, 81, welcomes a guest with a warm smile at his home in Havukoski, Vantaa. The living legend of motor racing, who lived in Hamburg for years, moved to Finland with his wife Mirja in February.

“We came back because of pension issues. Since pensions are no longer paid abroad from here like before, we calculated with “Milli” and my son Tuomas that by staying in Germany we would have lost thousands of euros a month.”
