Players were shocked by the fate of the Finnish NHL star until the truth was revealed: “Sick animal”
Sam Reinhart revealed his partner’s joke.
Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhart revealed a hilarious story on a recent episode of the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast about how team superstar Matthew Tkachuk pulled his teammates by the nose as the transfer deadline approached.
Reinhart told hosts Paul Bissonnette, Keith Yandle and Ryan Whitney how the Panthers’ locker room was tense in the final hours of the trade deadline. Rumors of big moves were starting to circulate, and there was anticipation in the air.
– There was only an hour left until the transfer deadline and we started hearing all kinds of rumors about a possible trade, Reinhart recalled.
The players finally learned that the team had acquired experienced forward Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins.
Next, the Canadian forward made a revelation that made everyone laugh.
– I remember Chucky [Tkachuk] texting a few of us that Luosty [Eetu Luostarinen] was going in a different direction at the store. We were all absolutely devastated by the news.
Reinhart says he immediately called Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov and wondered how the club could let an important Finnish player go.
– In hindsight, it was really fun, but those were really difficult few hours for us, Reinhart says.
The creator of the joke himself, Tkachuk, also joined the podcast as a guest.
– You’re a sick animal, Yandle said to Tkachuk as they recounted the trade story.
– I was happy that we got Marchy and didn’t lose Luostaris either, Tkachuk said.
