The decision to purchase new city bikes was overturned.
The Helsinki region’s city bike service is scheduled to be renewed in spring 2026. A joint city bike service for seven municipalities is planned.
Kaupunkiliikken OY has decided to overturn the previous decision to purchase city bikes and select the Danish company Donkey Republic as the winner of the tender.
In April, the City Transport Board selected Kaupunkipyörä Vantaan Oy as the supplier of city bikes for the Helsinki region. The company also operates as a service provider for the current Helsinki and Espoo city bike systems, as well as Vantaa.
The cancellation of the procurement decision is due to the fact that the offer was found to be contrary to the request for tender.
The Helsinki region’s city bike service is scheduled to be renewed in spring 2026. A joint city bike service is planned for seven municipalities, including Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen, Kerava, Sipoo, Siuntio and Vantaa.
Kaapunkiliikken oy has been responsible for preparing the joint city bike project and putting the project out to tender.
Donkey Republic appealed the initial procurement decision, but according to Kaupunkiliekien, the appeal had no effect on overturning that decision.
According to the press release, the reassessment of the procurement decision had already begun before the appeal and claim for rectification were filed.
The procurement agreement with Donkey Republic will be signed once the appeal period has expired and the decision is final.
