The waiter got a beating because I was honest.

Feedback is an opportunity to develop or drive away a customer, writes HS journalist Sami Takala.

I went to a restaurant over the weekend. The experience was terrifyingly memorable. It showed how difficult it is to deal with feedback.

The evening contained numerous small blunders that, when repeated, began to add up. Things didn’t go well.

A few examples:

Ordered food and drinks had to be asked repeatedly after the dishes were already on the table.
